The Churches Working Together in Newport (CWTN) recognise the importance of local churches being in good relationship together, so that we can work together to see God’s kingdom come in our town (See John 17v20-23; Psalm 133)
We recognise the need for each local church to support and encourage each other, and that there are some things we can do better together.
CWTN works in line with Churches Together in England (CTE), providing a basis for the churches as they look to work together in Newport.
Church leaders and reps meet formally at least three times a year, typically in January, June and September/October. The eligibility to attend is based both on CTE and local criteria.
Church Ministers, the Newport Youth Project steering group and Revive-Newport collaborate to share progress in the CWTN meetings
The Chair and Vice Chair will stand for re-election every January
The role description of the Chair is as below:
– To hold a kingdom vision for this town, understanding the need for both formal meetings together and also for ministers to meet and pray together informally
– To arrange the formal Ministers and Reps meetings and venues, and communicate these accordingly. Plan agendas and ensure minutes are circulated
– To arrange informal Ministers meetings. If the elected Chair is a lay rep, the Vice Chair or another Minister would need to take on this responsibility
– To have a close working relationship with the Chair of the NYP Steering Team
– To be prepared to represent CWTN in external civic and inter-church events and to be a point of contact for non church organisations
